Many products in Noba have quantity restrictions in addition to an overall FODMAP rating. We understand this can be confusing, so here's how it works:

The overall FODMAP assessment depends on whether the low FODMAP amount is considered a reasonable serving size.

For example:

  • A biscuit may be low FODMAP with a limit of 20g (2 biscuits), because that's considered a typical serving.
  • A ripe banana, on the other hand, will be high FODMAP even with a limit of 33g (approx. 1/3 banana), as most people eat more that that in one sitting.

This means portion sizes vary between different types of products!

The Symbols From Left to Right

🟢 Low FODMAP | 🟡 Moderate FODMAP | 🔴 High FODMAP | 🟣 Unknown FODMAP

Inside each product page, you'll find:

  • A FODMAP rating (symbol, ingredients and FODMAPs detected)
  • Possible quantity restrictions
  • Potential comments with information regarding formulation changes etc.

We always recommend checking the full product details for the most accurate information!

🟣 Why Some Products Have Unknown FODMAP Content

A product may be marked unknown FODMAP content (purple), for these reasons:

  • We're waiting for manufacturer confirmation on specific ingredient amounts
  • We're waiting for information from manufacturer if a collective term-ingredient like "spices", contain onion or garlic
  • Some individual ingredients are still under review
  • One or more ingredients have not been tested in laboratory and therefore have an unknown FODMAP content

🔍 Automatic FODMAP Assessments

Some products also have an automatic FODMAP assessment, generated by our algorithm based on the ingredient list. This allows us to provide guidance on products that haven’t yet been reviewed by our registered dietitians 👩🏽‍⚕️

While most assessments are accurate, some ingredients may not yet be recognized, and collective terms like "spices" cannot always be evaluated. To improve accuracy, it is important that your images are clear and include the full ingredient list.
